10.18 Crore Women Screened for Cervical Cancer in India

The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare has reported that over 10.18 crore women aged 30 years and above have been screened for cervical cancer as part of a national initiative under the National Health Mission (NHM) and Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (AAMs). The screening primarily uses Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid (VIA) and involves grassroots health workers, including Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs), to promote awareness and facilitate screenings. This achievement reflects the government's commitment to preventive healthcare and the success of a recent NCD Screening Campaign.
