11 Years of Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana: Empowering India's Micro-Entrepreneurs
The Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana (PMMY) has been instrumental in empowering over 57 crore micro-entrepreneurs in India with collateral-free loans totaling ₹40.07 lakh crore over the past 11 years. The scheme has significantly boosted financial inclusion and supported grassroots entrepreneurship as 60% of loans are disbursed to women, and 21% target new entrepreneurs. The introduction of four loan categories - Shishu, Kishor, Tarun, and Tarun Plus - tailors to various stages of enterprise growth. By integrating technology and government-backed schemes, PMMY has set a strong foundation for inclusive growth and development of micro-enterprises across the country.
