56th Meeting of IIT Council Focuses on Innovation and Self-Reliance

The 56th Meeting of the Council of Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) was held at IIT Delhi, chaired by Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan. The council emphasized the need for IITs to drive innovation and self-reliance in line with the Prime Minister's vision of 'Atmanirbharta se Samriddha Bharat'. With over 6,000 startups and 56 unicorns, IITs are positioned as engines of growth. Discussions included promoting regional languages, enhancing Ph.D. education, and fostering industry-academia collaboration. A strategic roadmap for IITs by 2047 was also outlined, focusing on inclusivity and mental well-being.
