₹717 Crore Allocated to Maharashtra's Rural Local Bodies
The Union Government of India has sanctioned ₹717.17 crores to the Rural Local Bodies in Maharashtra under the guidelines of the XV Finance Commission. This allocation marks the first instalment of Untied Grants for the fiscal year 2025-26, distributed among eligible rural bodies, including two District Panchayats (Zilla Parishads), 15 Block Panchayats (Panchayat Samitis), and 26,544 Gram Panchayats. The grants, recommended jointly by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj and the Ministry of Jal Shakti, will be used for development projects excluding running costs, with specific Tied Grants earmarked for sanitation, waste management, and water supply initiatives.
