Aadi Thiruvathirai Festival Celebrates Rajendra Chola I
The Ministry of Culture will host the Aadi Thiruvathirai Festival from July 23-27, 2025, in Gangaikonda Cholapuram, Tamil Nadu, to honor the birth anniversary of Rajendra Chola I. The festival commemorates 1,000 years of his maritime expedition and the construction of the Gangaikonda Cholapuram temple. The grand finale on July 27 will feature Prime Minister Narendra Modi and cultural performances, including Bharatanatyam and Devaram chanting, alongside exhibitions on Chola Shaivism and temple architecture.
