Achievements and Ongoing Efforts of India's Namami Gange Programme

Since its launch in June 2014, the Namami Gange Programme has made substantial progress in river rejuvenation efforts across India. With a budget allocation of ₹ 21,340 crores, primarily for sewage treatment, the program has completed 68% of its projects as part of its second phase, which is expected to continue until March 2026. Key accomplishments include improvements in water treatment systems, industrial pollution control, biodiversity conservation, and the implementation of technology-driven solutions such as species restoration and riverine patrolling.
