Addressing Fluoride Contamination in Madhya Pradesh's Groundwater
The Central Ground Water Board (CGWB) has reported that groundwater across India largely remains potable, including in Madhya Pradesh's Katni district, which shows fluoride levels within permissible limits. The Jal Jeevan Mission ensures safe tap water supply to rural households, alongside regular groundwater monitoring. Panna and Khajuraho have been evaluated for contaminant levels with few samples showing excess nitrate levels but no samples exceeding fluoride or arsenic limits. State governments primarily manage water safety, with substantial support from the national government, underscoring initiatives like the National Aquifer Mapping Programme and Jal Shakti Abhiyan.
