Admiral Krishna Swaminathan Appointed as Chief of Naval Staff

Admiral Krishna Swaminathan, PVSM, AVSM, VSM has been appointed as the 27th Chief of the Naval Staff of the Indian Navy as of 31 May 2026. He succeeds Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi. Swaminathan, who joined the Indian Navy in July 1987, has had a distinguished career with extensive operational, staff, and training roles. His previous command positions include several major Indian Navy vessels, and he has extensive experience in naval command positions including Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Naval Command. Swaminathan holds numerous academic qualifications, including a PhD in International Studies, and is a highly decorated naval officer.
