Agriculture Sector GVA Surges As Foodgrain Production Rises

The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare reported a significant increase in the Gross Value Added (GVA) of the Agriculture and Allied Sector, reaching ₹48.77 lakh crore in 2023-24, more than doubling from ₹20.93 lakh crore in 2014-15. This growth, realized at a compound annual rate of 8.83%, reflects enhanced performance in livestock, crops, and fishing & aquaculture. Additionally, foodgrain production has increased, and the average income for agricultural households has risen over the years.
