The Government of India, through ministries like Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region, is enhancing the promotion of agro-forestry and bamboo sectors in the North Eastern Region. The Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (PMRKVY) initiated in 2023-24, supports nursery establishment and distribution of planting materials in states including Assam. Assam State Bamboo Mission has advanced bamboo cultivation contributing to economic cluster development. New projects under Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region aim to strengthen bamboo artisan clusters, with significant financial backing enhancing market access and global reach for North Eastern bamboo products.
