Amendment to Machinery and Electrical Equipment Safety Regulations

The Ministry of Heavy Industries has announced the 'Machinery and Electrical Equipment Safety (Omnibus Technical Regulation) Amendment Order, 2025', which amends the previous order from 2024. The new regulations will take effect on September 1, 2026, for machines and electrical equipment listed in the first schedule. Compliance with Indian Standards is mandatory, and the Bureau of Indian Standards will oversee enforcement. Exemptions include goods for export and certain construction equipment. The government is supporting small and medium enterprises with pre-registration and awareness programs.
