Union Home Minister Amit Shah emphasized the importance of Khadi during the Khadi Karigar Mahotsav in Rohtak, Haryana. He highlighted the historical significance of Khadi initiated by Mahatma Gandhi and its revival under Prime Minister Modi's leadership. Shah noted the substantial increase in Khadi sales from ₹33,000 crore in 2014-15 to ₹1.70 lakh crore now, attributing this growth to government initiatives. He urged every Indian family to purchase Khadi worth ₹5,000 annually to promote self-reliance and support local weavers. The event also saw the distribution of resources to artisans and the inauguration of new employment generation units.
