AMRUT 2.0: New Horizons in Urban Water Management

The Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) launched in 2015 for urban infrastructure development, subsumed into AMRUT 2.0 in 2021, continues to bolster India's self-reliance and water security in urban locales. With allocations of over ₹66,100 crore for sewerage and over ₹1,19,600 crore for water supply projects, the initiative enhances sewage treatment, non-motorized transport, and water management to ensure safe and sustained urban living across 500 cities. AMRUT 2.0 has a pronounced focus on environmental standards, resource recovery, and women's participation through Self Help Groups in water management.
