The Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) launched in 2015 for urban infrastructure development, subsumed into AMRUT 2.0 in 2021, continues to bolster India's self-reliance and water security in urban locales. With allocations of over ₹66,100 crore for sewerage and over ₹1,19,600 crore for water supply projects, the initiative enhances sewage treatment, non-motorized transport, and water management to ensure safe and sustained urban living across 500 cities.
