Andaman Oil Exploration Initiatives
The Indian government is actively exploring crude oil and hydrocarbon reserves in the Andaman-Nicobar basin to enhance energy security and reduce import dependence. Following the Hydrocarbon Exploration and Licensing Policy (HELP), four blocks have been allocated for exploration, covering 23,261 square kilometers. Significant seismic data has been collected, and estimates suggest 371 million Metric Tons of Oil Equivalent in the basin. The geological setting is promising, with renewed global interest due to discoveries in nearby regions.
