Approval of 48 Projects Under PLI Scheme for Pharmaceuticals
The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has approved 48 projects under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme to promote domestic manufacturing of critical Key Starting Materials (KSMs), Drug Intermediates (DIs), and Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) in India. The scheme aims to reduce reliance on imports and ensure a stable supply of essential drugs. As of December 2024, investments have exceeded ₹4,254 crore, leading to significant sales and export figures, while also creating domestic manufacturing capacity for 25 identified products.
