ASI to Conserve and Maintain 3,685 Monuments Nationwide

The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) is spearheading conservation and maintenance efforts for 3,685 ancient monuments and archaeological sites of national importance across India. This initiative is part of a broader effort to preserve cultural heritage through the National Culture Fund (NCF), established to bolster resources for such projects through Public Private Partnerships (PPP). Additionally, 655 antiquities have been reclaimed from abroad since 1976, enhancing India's commitment to heritage preservation. The ASI's ongoing projects are rigorously monitored by a committee comprising ASI, donors, and the NCF. The Ministry of Culture has disclosed these undertakings in the Rajya Sabha.
