Assam's Rural Local Bodies Receive Rs. 299 Crores Through Fifteenth Finance Commission Grants
The Union Government has released Rs. 299 crores to Panchayati Raj Institutions and Rural Local Bodies in Assam for the financial year 2025-26, as part of the Fifteenth Finance Commission Grants. This release includes the second installment of untied grants totaling Rs. 256.60 crores and Rs. 42.70 crores of withheld funds from a previous installment. The funds are allocated to District Panchayats, Block Panchayats, Gram Panchayats, and Autonomous District Councils of Bodoland Territorial Council, Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, and Dima Hasao Autonomous Council. These grants are aimed at addressing local needs and enhancing basic sanitation and water services.
