Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme evolves into a national movement

The Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) scheme, initiated in 2015 to combat Child Sex Ratio (CSR) imbalances and empower women, has grown into a nationwide movement, engaging diverse stakeholders such as government bodies, media, and the public. According to a NITI Aayog study, the program effectively addresses gender issues via integrated, data-driven services. Remarkably, India's national Sex Ratio at Birth (SRB) has risen from 918 in 2014-15 to 929 in 2024-25, and girl enrolment in secondary schools has improved from 75.51% to 80.2% over the same period.
