Boosting Micro Enterprises: Impact of PMFME Scheme in India
The Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) continues to implement the PM Formalisation of Micro food processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme, aimed at supporting micro food processing enterprises in India through financial, technical, and business assistance. Through collaboration with State and UT Governments, the scheme has sanctioned loans to approximately 1.6 lakh enterprises, achieving notable progress, particularly benefiting women, SC, and ST entrepreneurs. Despite no new measures post-August 2025, financial support and capacity-building efforts continue, including seed capital provision for women in Self Help Groups and infrastructure facilities for Farmer Producer Organizations and Cooperatives.
