Bengaluru scientists have developed a new cathode material for zinc-ion batteries (ZIBs) that enhances energy density and stability, offering a safer and more environmentally friendly alternative to lithium batteries. The innovative process involves thermo-electrochemical treatment of vanadium oxide (V2O5) to create a new structure, zinc-vanadium oxide (Zn-V2O5), which allows for improved energy storage and longevity. This research, led by Dr. Ashutosh Kumar Singh, represents a significant advancement in sustainable energy storage technologies.
