Cabinet Approves Delhi-NCR Truck and Bus Replacement Scheme
The Indian Union Cabinet has approved a two-year scheme with a financial outlay of Rs.9,585 crore to replace old trucks and buses in the Delhi-NCR region to reduce air pollution. The scheme encourages the adoption of BS-VI emission-compliant vehicles or electric vehicles by providing financial incentives and support from the Central and State Governments. This move is expected to significantly reduce vehicular emissions, as heavy polluting vehicles account for a substantial portion of air pollutants in the region.
