Cabinet Approves Enhanced Investment Powers for POWERGRID

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved a proposal to increase the equity investment threshold for POWERGRID. Under the new approval, the threshold for subsidiary investments will increase from Rs.5,000 crore to Rs.7,500 crore, providing POWERGRID with greater flexibility to invest in its core business and advanced transmission projects. This move aims to support the expansion of renewable energy capacity, aligning with India's goal of achieving 500 gigawatts from non-fossil-based sources.
