Cabinet Approves Pune Metro Rail Project Phase-2

The Union Cabinet has approved the Pune Metro Rail Project Phase-2, which includes two elevated corridors: Vanaz to Chandani Chowk (Corridor 2A) and Ramwadi to Wagholi/Vitthalwadi (Corridor 2B). Spanning 12.75 km with 13 stations, the project aims to enhance public transport in Pune, connecting key suburbs and integrating with existing metro lines. The estimated cost is Rs.3626.24 crore, shared by the Government of India, Maharashtra, and external agencies. Completion is expected within four years, with significant increases in ridership projected by 2057.
