Cabinet Approves Rs.4200 Crore for MERITE Scheme in Technical Education

The Union Cabinet has approved the implementation of the Multidisciplinary Education and Research Improvement in Technical Education (MERITE) Scheme, with a budget of Rs.4200 crore, aimed at enhancing the quality, equity, and governance of technical education across 275 institutions in India. The scheme, aligned with the National Educational Policy-2020, will benefit approximately 7.5 lakh students and includes support from the World Bank. Key outcomes include improved employability skills, digitalization strategies, and strengthened research environments.
