Cabinet Approves Underwater Tunnel Project in Assam

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has given the go-ahead for the development of a 33.7 km underwater road and rail tunnel beneath the Brahmaputra River in Assam. The project, connecting Gohpur on NH-15 to Numaligarh on NH-715, is expected to cost Rs.18,662 crore and aims to enhance regional connectivity, boost freight movement, and stimulate socio-economic growth across North-Eastern Indian states.
