The Indian Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has sanctioned an extended period and increased funding for the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), bringing total allocations to Rs. 8.69 lakh crore. The revamped mission under JJM 2.0 will focus on transforming from infrastructure building to service delivery in rural potable water supply. Emphasis will be laid on structural reforms, digital mapping with "Sujalam Bharat," and community involvement for sustainable water management.
