Cabinet Secretary Reviews Cyclone Preparedness in Bay of Bengal
Cabinet Secretary Dr. T. V. Somanathan chaired a meeting of the National Crises Management Committee (NCMC) to assess the preparedness for an impending cyclone in the Bay of Bengal. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that a depression is expected to intensify into a severe cyclonic storm by October 28, with maximum wind speeds of 90-100 kmph. State officials outlined evacuation plans and safety measures, while the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and other agencies are on standby to minimize damage and ensure public safety.
