CAQM Pushes for Comprehensive Action against Stubble Burning by 2026

The Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR and Adjoining Areas (CAQM), led by Shri Rajesh Verma, met with officials from Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh to discuss measures to eliminate stubble burning by 2026. The meeting stressed the importance of coordinated preparedness, crop residue management, and enforcement strategies to combat the adverse effects of stubble burning on air quality. States are required to submit revised action plans and reports on CRM machine status and co-firing activities in brick kilns.
