CAQM Reviews MSW Management in Delhi NCR

The Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR and Adjoining Areas (CAQM) has conducted a comprehensive review of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) management across the National Capital Region (NCR) and the NCT of Delhi. The review highlights persistent issues with open burning of waste, gaps in enforcement, and inefficiencies in waste processing infrastructures, despite existing resources. CAQM has mandated several measures to improve waste processing, enhance surveillance, and ensure strict compliance, including planned timelines for waste remediation projects and the establishment of Zero Waste Colonies. The review is critical given the impact of MSW management on air quality, especially during winters.
