CBDT Extends Income Tax Return Filing Deadline

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has extended the deadline for filing Income Tax Returns (ITRs) for Assessment Year 2025-26 from July 31, 2025, to September 15, 2025. This decision comes in light of significant changes to the ITRs and the need for additional time for system readiness and utility rollout. The extension aims to facilitate a smoother filing process and address stakeholder concerns regarding compliance and accuracy in reporting.
