CBFC Reduces Film Certification Time with Online System

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has announced a significant reduction in the time taken for film certification by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), now averaging 18 days for feature films, significantly faster than the previous limit of 48 days. This improvement is credited to the implementation of an Online Certification System. The data shows that from 2021-2026, the number of films certified annually varied, with some certification decisions being challenged in Revising Committees and High Courts. This update was part of a parliamentary response by Dr. L. Murugan, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, to a query raised by Smt. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
