The Startup India Initiative, since its inception in 2016, has catapulted India into one of the largest startup ecosystems globally, with 200,000 recognized startups by December 2025. This initiative has democratized entrepreneurship with a significant emergence of startups in Tier II and III cities, while also playing a pivotal role in economic transformation via innovation and job creation. Notable developments under this initiative include substantial funding schemes like the Fund of Funds for Startups and the Credit Guarantee Scheme, in addition to the establishment of the National Mentorship Portal to bridge ecosystem gaps and bolster startup scalability.
