Center Distributes Over ₹3,324 Crores to Strengthen Rural Local Bodies in Five States
The Union Government of India has announced the release of the second installment of Fifteenth Finance Commission Untied Grants for the fiscal year 2025–26, aimed at empowering Panchayati Raj Institutions in managing rural development needs. The funds, totaling over ₹3,324 crores, have been allocated to five states: Bihar, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal. These grants enable local governance bodies to address specific local requirements across various sectors excluding administrative expenses. Tied Grants also support essential services such as sanitation and drinking water management.
