Climate Resilient Power Infrastructure for Coastal Areas
The Government of India has launched the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) to enhance the operational efficiency and financial viability of distribution utilities. Under this scheme, Rs. 3,088 Cr has been allocated for disaster and cyclone resilient works in coastal states including Maharashtra, Gujarat, Kerala, and Andhra Pradesh. Key initiatives include underground cabling, augmentation of distribution transformers, and the implementation of smart metering systems. Additionally, measures to improve cyber security in the power sector have been established, including guidelines and frameworks to protect against cyber threats.
