Coal Stock at Thermal Power Plants Reaches Record High
The Ministry of Railways announced that coal stock at thermal power plants has reached an all-time high of 58.25 million tonnes, sufficient for 25 days of consumption. This achievement is attributed to the increased use of silo loading, which has improved coal logistics significantly, raising the share of coal loaded through silos from 18.8% in 2022-23 to 29% in 2025-26. A high-level meeting between key ministers focused on enhancing silo loading infrastructure to ensure energy security during peak summer and the upcoming monsoon season.
