Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) Guidelines Update

The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has been implementing the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) Notification since 1991 to protect coastal areas and ensure livelihood security for local communities. The CRZ Notification has undergone updates in 2011 and 2019, requiring coastal States and Union Territories to submit updated Coastal Zone Management Plans (CZMPs) for approval. Violations of the CRZ regulations are subject to penalties under the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986. A total of 53 violation cases have been reported in Andhra Pradesh over the last decade, with no repeat offenders.
