Commissioning of INS Androth: A Milestone for Indian Navy

The Indian Navy commissioned INS Androth, the second Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft, on October 6, 2025, at the Naval Dockyard in Visakhapatnam. The event, presided over by Vice Admiral Rajesh Pendharkar, highlighted the ship's 80% indigenous content and advanced capabilities for anti-submarine operations. INS Androth, measuring 77m and displacing 1500 tonnes, is designed for coastal and shallow water operations, enhancing the Navy's maritime security and indigenisation efforts. The ship is named after Androth, a strategically important island in the Lakshadweep group.
