Connecting Tribal and Backward Areas through National Highways

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is focused on the development and maintenance of National Highways (NHs) to connect aspirational and tribal districts. Since April 2014, over 1,08,743 km of NHs have been constructed, including 4,775 km in tribal areas. A study indicates that every rupee spent on NH development yields a ₹3.2 increase in GDP, while transportation times to schools and health services have significantly decreased. Currently, 217 NH projects are underway under a Public-Private Partnership model, with reforms to attract private investment.
