Conservation of Intangible Cultural Heritage in India

The Ministry of Culture's 'Scheme for Safeguarding the Intangible Heritage and Diverse Cultural Traditions of India' aims to preserve and promote India's rich intangible cultural heritage through various initiatives. Operational from 2013 to 2016, the scheme recognized ten forms of Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) and involved training, documentation, and public engagement efforts led by the Sangeet Natak Akademi. The scheme has resulted in increased requests for inclusion in the National Inventory of ICH, supporting the preservation of endangered cultural practices.
