CSIR-NIIST and NECTAR Collaborate to Launch Vegan Leather Manufacturing in Northeast India

The CSIR-National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology (CSIR-NIIST) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the North East Centre for Technology Application and Reach (NECTAR) to establish vegan leather manufacturing units in Northeast India. This initiative aims to convert agro-waste into sustainable products, supporting local farmers and women-led self-help groups. The collaboration aligns with national missions promoting entrepreneurship and environmental sustainability. Additionally, CSIR-NIIST announced a partnership with GIZ to develop solar-integrated building technologies.
