The Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) marked a significant year in 2025 with numerous pioneering achievements. Highlights include the launch of the world's first port road using steel slag technology at Hazira, Gujarat, and the introduction of eco-friendly MSS+ technology for sustainable road construction in Uttar Pradesh. Additionally, CSIR developed a 20-minute pothole repair solution, ecofix, and initiated India's first road trial using end-of-life plastic technical textiles. In biotechnology, CSIR developed the world's first GM cotton resistant to the pink bollworm and presented a DNA test for illegal shahtoosh detection in Pashmina shawls. Other key developments include a rapid sickle cell anaemia test, India's first 3D-printed rural house, climate-resilient buildings, and the first flowering of Heeng in India.
