Curbing Cyber Frauds in Digital India
The Indian government is intensifying efforts to combat cyber frauds as internet connectivity rises to over 86% of households. Cybersecurity incidents surged from 10.29 lakh in 2022 to 22.68 lakh in 2024, prompting a ₹782 crore allocation in the 2025-2026 Union Budget for cybersecurity projects. A dedicated helpline (1930) has been established for immediate assistance, and significant legislative measures, including the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025, have been enacted to strengthen the fight against cyber frauds. The government emphasizes the importance of public awareness and collaboration in securing the digital landscape.
