DAC Approves Major Defence Acquisitions Worth Rs 1.05 Lakh Crore

On July 3, 2025, the Defence Acquisition Council, chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, approved 10 capital acquisition proposals totaling approximately Rs 1.05 lakh crore. The proposals include procurement of Armoured Recovery Vehicles, Electronic Warfare Systems, and Surface-to-Air Missiles, aimed at enhancing the operational readiness of the Armed Forces. Additionally, acquisitions for naval defense systems were approved to mitigate risks to maritime vessels, emphasizing the push for indigenous design and development under the Buy (Indian-IDDM) category.
