DD Free Dish Expands South Indian Language Representation
DD Free Dish, the free-to-air DTH platform of Prasar Bharati, has expanded its reach to approximately 49 million households in India as of 2024, up from 33 million in 2018. The government has implemented measures to enhance the representation of South Indian language channels, including reserved slots in e-auctions and simplified eligibility norms for private broadcasters. New channels such as TV9 Telugu and Aastha Kannada have been added, along with upgrades to existing regional channels. Additionally, 27 educational channels are now available in various South Indian languages.
