The Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) has launched the Samudrayaan project under the Deep Ocean Mission (DOM) to develop a human submersible, MATSYA 6000, capable of reaching depths of 6000 meters for ocean exploration. This initiative aligns with the Global Plastics Treaty aimed at reducing plastic pollution by 2040. The project has a budget of 4,077 crores over five years and focuses on enhancing India's blue economy through technological advancements in deep-sea exploration and resource management.
