Delhi-NCR Air Quality Deteriorates: CAQM Invokes GRAP Stage-III
The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) in collaboration with the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) and the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM) has reported a worsening trend in Delhi's Air Quality Index (AQI), prompting the immediate implementation of Stage-III measures under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP). The AQI, registered at 354 as of January 16, 2026, indicates a rapid decline with forecasts predicting further deterioration into the 'Severe' category. To combat the escalating air pollution, strict restrictions on construction activities, vehicular use, and schooling are ordered across the NCR.
