Delivery of First Indigenous Diving Support Vessel - ‘Nistar’
The Indian Navy received its first indigenously designed Diving Support Vessel, ‘Nistar’, from Hindustan Shipyard Limited on July 8, 2025. The 118-meter vessel, with a tonnage of nearly 10,000 tons, is equipped for deep sea diving and rescue operations, featuring advanced diving equipment and capabilities for saturation diving up to 300 meters. It will also act as a mother ship for the Deep Submergence Rescue Vessel (DSRV) and is a significant step towards indigenous naval construction, aligning with India's Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
