Delivery of Indigenous Stealth Frigate Udaygiri to Indian Navy
The Indian Navy received the Udaygiri, the second ship of Project 17A, on July 1, 2025. Built at Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited, Udaygiri features advanced stealth capabilities and state-of-the-art weaponry, marking a significant upgrade from the previous P17 class. The project emphasizes self-reliance in shipbuilding, generating employment for over 14,000 personnel and supporting a robust industrial ecosystem. Five more P17A frigates are under construction and expected to be delivered by the end of 2026.
