The Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) in India is restricted from patenting inventions related to atomic energy as per the Patents Act, 1970. However, it has successfully obtained 235 patents in India and 143 patents internationally since 1985 and 2001 respectively, focusing on technologies outside atomic energy. Notable patents include innovations in electronic voting machines, waste treatment methods, and advanced materials for various applications.
